I have enjoyed working with Lisa throughout the process. I shared a sample of my book, the word count and a synopsis. I was given a slot which I could work towards and the edit began as promised. Lisa communicated well leading up to the edit and asked questions when she needed information. As promised I received the manuscript with markups and a clean version so I could see what had been changed, and importantly a style guide which would become useful later. The editorial report was very helpful in giving valuable feedback, highlighting inconsistencies that I had missed from my various edits, and some suggestions about the characters and plot which I found useful. As my first novel it was great to see it emerge from a rough draft into something more polished and grammatically correct. I would recommend Lisa to all authors.

Writing a book is a roller coaster ride. And the moment you send it to the professional editor can leave you with your heart in my mouth. You want them to love your baby...even though you really know that 'baby' needs a good burping. Ideally you will have an editor who instinctively 'gets' everything you are trying to achieve. Lisa is that editor. Her encouragement is amazing. Her revisions are spectacular. I was on a train today reading a copy of my book The DNA of Engagement and checking some design elements. The person next to me said, 'I'm sorry to disturb you...but that book looks amazing.' I personally thank Lisa for being a big part of achieving that sort of impromptu feedback.

When I got my baby (my first book) back from it's edit by Lisa I was delighted to discover that:
🌟 I had the chance to learn a lot about grammar!
🌟 Her edits had made my book 100 times better.
🌟 I was on the home stretch.
I couldn't recommend Lisa more highly. She handled my precious first book with such care and attention, really going through it with a fine tooth comb. She gave such helpful suggestions, gentle nudges and offered countless grammatical corrections. I think her eye is ESSENTIAL! Even though I have a degree In English Literature I simply have no clue about the important grammar stuff, it feels like science to me. Thankfully Lisa fixed it and made it ready for the world!

Having worked through your editing of my book RE-DISCOVERED, big warm thanks for your sensitivity and respect for my "voice." I've implemented most of your recommendations and am grateful for them as they've also helped to improve my general writing.

Lisa de Caux saved me from myself! In the treacherous terrain of writing, where one's soul often bleeds onto the pages, Lisa stood as my pillar of clarity and precision. Her extraordinary patience and astute editing skills were not just a life saver; they were the air that my creative process needed to thrive. As a writer inclined towards weaving prose and poetry with themes deeply rooted in the heart and soul, I found myself navigating through an ocean of information, aiming to distill it into the concise, impactful narrative of a short valuable book. Lisa's role in this journey was pivotal. Her unique blend of humour and support made the painstaking task of editing enjoyable. Meanwhile, her unwavering commitment to accuracy ensured that my work remained grounded in its analytical rigour. Lisa ensured that my words found their resonance and with the intended clarity and depth that I wanted to achieve. Lisa has a gift in helping you see through the quagmire of the forest into the simplicity of an open field. Thank you Lisa 🙏 I could not recommend her more highly.

Lisa has an eye for detail!
She was the proof editor on my most recent book, Boardroom Blueprint, and did an amazing job fixing all my errors. Not only that, weirdly, she seems to enjoy her work ;)
Definitely would recommend Lisa for your next editing project.

Lisa has been exactly what I needed. I am writing my first book and don't really know what I am doing! Lisa has guided and supported me so I have something I can take to the next stage of the process.
Lisa has been available to answer questions and provide additional support and has made things as simple as possible.
Most importantly, she has been the nudge I needed to keep going when I could have stopped.
Thank you Lisa for your brilliant support.
I had the pleasure to work with Lisa at the early stage of my book "The Alphabet of Belonging" - contracting line- and copyediting servcies from her.
She had walked me through the editing process upfront, explaining the inputs , outputs and dependencies along the process. Everything was well defined, structured and with clear timelines.
When I look back now, after working with a couple of other specialists in that area, she did best job in assuring accuracy of the work, and more importantly, addressing my doubts in the role that I was stepping into. The role of an Author.
I can tell she is a role model in "creating safe spaces where everyone can thrive". Strongly recommend!
Maybe I am mellowing but that was the smoothest editing process I have been through in a long time. Every request for clarification made sense. The manuscript will be far better because of some firm but fair (and usefully and usually giggly) comments and requirements. It was a remarkably painless way to give birth to a new type of book for me.
When people say, "You should write a book," they neglect to tell you that writing is not the hard part. Getting something that does not contain errors and has a consistent style requires more than the author. It requires someone like Lisa who will literally ensure that you cross all the eyes and dot all the tees. (She might even tell me there was a better way to say eyes and tees.) I would highly recommend her services if you want your written material to be top shelf.
Lisa and I have known each other for approximately four or five years now but today I saw a different side to her.
I'm running an Open House inside my online community and I had asked InclUSioners if any of them would be interested in running a session and Lisa kindly volunteered and this morning, she ran a masterclass on when to use an editor.
The confidence in her oozed out of her and this might sound crazy but you can tell that she takes her job seriously. I know you’d expect that but it’s the way she cares about what she does and she will leave no stone unturned to ensure accuracy.
This might have something to do with her accountancy background and the processes and audit trails that go with that but from listening to Lisa today, I know that if anyone chose to work with her, they’d be in safe hands.
So, if you’re looking for someone of Lisa’s skill set and experience, have a chat with her. You won’t be disappointed…
Thanks again, Lisa for running such a fab masterclass and for articulating the process so clearly and for answering our questions.
P.S. I'm feeling the pressure writing this... I hope it meets your standards.
Writing a recommendation for an editor make me laugh! Who will correct it?! But seriously working with Lisa was amazing, from my very firstly wobbly 'but I haven't worked with an editor before' meeting to working through her thoughtful edits, corrections and comments. The latter were insightful and sometimes just plain fun which made my first review post edit so much easier. Importantly she had highlighted some issues I hadn't known about as new author and kept the book sounding like me (one of my fears). So lovely to work with someone who endeavours to bring out the best in your writing.
Lisa is a pleasure to work with. She was very precise on gaining understanding of my project requirements and checked in on progress. She delivered on time and in full exactly as expected which in itself exceeded my expectations. I would trust her with any writing project.
I wanted to thank you for your outstanding work on my book No More Job Secrets … It was a pleasure working with you.
Lisa is a brilliant proofreader and such a pleasure to work with. She has always been prompt, communicative and thorough in the work she did for Allison and Busby. I can't recommend her enough. Thank you, Lisa!
[Lisa's] mark up was incredibly clear. It was very useful to have suggestions of how to minimise disruptions to the text flow.
I have been impressed with Lisa’s professionalism and reliability. She is a pleasure to work with.
